Postpartum Bridge Art Fair

Well ... I think nobody did too well at any of the art fairs, but I also brought giant canvases not desperate to sell, but to sort of get my color scheme out there and burnt onto the retina of the collective conscience ... still ahve to see if that worked - next up is the gwob launching later on in March 2009.

Americana Trailer Park ... Opening Fall 2009 at NYSG Gallery, New York

I've narrowed down my color spectrum and have been working on this theme for a while. I collect lots and lost of old pictures of groups or portraits and paint large scale images from them in white, black, aqua and grey iron. After I'm done I 'rust' the painting and the grays oxidize into orange, red and brown tones and bleed into the others. I like bringing out the kinetic energy of awkward characters from a time past, where smiling for a picture wasn't an epidemic ... if you have any old family pics of this kind and want to see what I come up with: scan and send it to me via 'americana interactive'. If it fits my theme and I get round to painting from it, I'll send you an 8" x 10" print.

My next show in this vein will be: 'AMERICANA TRAILER PARK' for now will be at NYSG gallery in fall 2009 ...
